Our mission
Bintrose Foundation exists to give children in remote areas of Sierra Leone a healthy boost, helping them stay engaged in school and build their future. Our mission is to strengthen existing efforts, such as the UN’s World Food Programme, through focused and locally driven initiatives.
By delivering a daily moment of joy in the form of nutritious fruit, milk, or fish, we give children an extra reason to attend school — and to grow both physically and mentally. We connect nourishment with motivation, local action with global goals. In doing so, we actively contribute to a sustainable future in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
Bintrose invites children to taste, feel and dream — a nourishing memory that lasts.
Our vision
We see a world where the place you are born still determines whether you get to be a child, to learn — or merely to survive. In many disadvantaged regions of Sierra Leone, school attendance remains low — not due to a lack of ambition, but because of hunger, poverty, or lack of motivation.
In this reality, Bintrose aims to be a positive exception: small in scale, but meaningful in impact. We believe that lasting progress begins with simple, human gestures — care, nourishment, knowledge, dignity.
We operate between policy and practice, building a society where every child counts. Not as a project, but as a person. Not someday, but now.
Our Core Values
1. Humanity
We see every child, parent and teacher as a person — not a number, not a target group. Everything starts with genuine attention and respect.
2. Accessibility
We go where others don’t. Not because it’s easy, but because it’s necessary. Everyone deserves a fair opportunity.
3. Strengthening, not replacing
We build on existing local and international programs, such as those of the UN. Bintrose adds value — we don’t compete.
4. Motivation as a driver
We believe that real progress starts when children are motivated to learn, grow and dream. We help spark that inner flame.
5. Collaboration with trust
We work with people, not over them. Local involvement is essential: we listen, learn and build together — as equals.
